What To Know About Medicare

Turning 65?
Your initial Medicare enrollment period is three months before you turn 65, your birth month, and three months after you turn 65. Some people get enrolled in Medicare automatically, others have to actively sign up — it depends if you start getting retirement or disability benefits from Social Security before you turn 65. KOVR Medicare agents will step you through getting signed up and review plan options for you.

Medicare Open Enrollment Terms
Every year, Medicare’s annual open enrollment period is October 15 – December 7. During this time, Medicare recipients can review and make changes to their Medicare coverages. Some people will not need to make any changes at all but if there have been changes in health conditions or prescriptions, it is a good idea to review your coverage with a Medicare agent. Note: Medicare Advantage Plans and Prescription Drug Plans are the only type of plans you can change during this annual enrollment period in California and Texas. If you want to make changes to your Supplement plan in California, you can do that during the month of your birthday.
